Art in Paradise Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai will soon have the opening of Art In Paradise a huge interactive Art Museum. Pattaya already has an art in Paradise and Chiang Mai is the a logical next place for them but no doubt we'll end up seeing a Bangkok and Phuket version of Art in Paradise because this place is super popular with the Thai's and having a Thai market is a sure way to success. I'm curious to find out if they are going to charge Farang more than Thai's if that's the case i'll encourage people not to go as the one in Pattaya is not worth the inflated prices at least for expats.

They probably charge us two or three times more. I once went to a zoo in Bangkok that I’m not going back again ever. The Thai couple in front of me get to pay 200฿ per person, so I prepared myself 200฿ as well. But then the cashier told me to pay something like 450฿, and I was like stunned because that was my first time in somewhere like this in Thailand. I said (in English) to him that the couple there gets to pay less, but he asked my nationality. I said Australian, and he still insisted (impolitely) that I have to pay the more stuff. So I was a bit heated at this, I left the 500฿ note on his table. He took it and gave me the ticket with the 50฿ change. I took the ticket and left him the change incidentally to see what he’ll do. He muttered “ทำขี้เหนียวแล้วยังขี้ลืมอีกนะไอ้ฝรั่งห่านี้” (roughly: You fucking stingy forgetful Farang) . So I turned to him, said “ขอโทษด้วยนะครับที่ขี้ลืม” (Sorry for being forgetful) and took my change to buy a canned coconut juice. I never went back to that zoo since then, in fact, I didn’t even went to Bangkok for the second time.

My thought at that moment was like “What the hell! Is this really the Land of Smiles? God is lying.”

Not that I’m stingy, but they should be softer with customers especially with foreigners. Though this might not happen in other parts.

Yeah it sucks that they do this, the people serving you though have nothing to do with it and can’t make changes, i’d love to see what the people in charge have to say about making us pay more than twice as much as Thai’s.
