Italian Australian Man in Jail on Immigration charges in Chiang Mai
On the 6th of september Tourist police got a call about a rowdy guest at the Christie Guest House rachadamnoern road soi 5 Thapae Chiang Mai. The tourist police arrived and the Manager of the Guest House was up in arms about one of her guests and she wanted him out, he would not leave.Mr Nicola Pisanelli 56y/o travelling on an Italian passport and speaking with an Australian accent was the guest in question. He was addament he would not leave and so the Tourist police took him down to the police station to see what they could do about him.
Nicola only had a copy of his passport which showed no immigration status, at that time the Police couldn't determine if he had status to be in the country so they charged him with disturbing the police which carries a 500 baht fine.
Mr Pisanelli paid the fine and went back to collect his things and checked into another guest house just down the road from him, the White Guest House in the same Soi.
The next day the 7th of September 2011 Police had contacted immigration and it showed that he was in the country illegally. So the police went to the Guest house and made an arrest.
At the police Station again working with the tourist police contacted different departments from other countries to figure out who this guy actually was. They discovered that he had been arrested twice before in Thailand one time in 2006 for herion and 2007 for marijuana.
Mr Nicola Pisanelli continued his disturbance in the Police station where police had to hold him down. The case is most suspicous being here illegally on a different passport than what you would think he held.
He is now in the Chiang Mai jail awaiting trial to be held tommorrow.
