Things to do in Bangkok at Night

The city of Bangkok really comes alive at night and there are numerous bars, pubs and clubs that are just waiting to be explored. While Bangkok is without doubt the party capital of Thailand, you don’t have to go on a drinking binge to enjoy the city after dark. There are also plenty of other activities for people to enjoy in Bangkok when the sun goes down.

No trip to Bangkok would be complete without sampling traditional Thai cuisine, and street side food stalls spring up all over the city in the evening. These stalls serve up food from all over Thailand and they are very reasonably priced, which means that visitors will be able to sample a large selection of dishes without breaking the bank.

Bangkok also boasts numerous restaurants that specialize in culinary creations from all over the world. Lovers of fine dining will really be in their element and some of the treats that are just waiting to be enjoyed include delicious gourmet burgers made from top grade Wagu beef, gourmet Japanese food with a modern twist served at rooftop terraces that offer stunning views of the city, delicious dim sum, mouth watering Mexican dishes and fine French food.

The city has a rapidly growing alternative music scene and music lovers will be able to enjoy various different types of live music from cool jazz and blues to grunge, rock and metal. Many of the bands in Bangkok play their own songs, while there are also plenty of bands they play fresh and toe tapping renditions of popular tunes.

Browsing for bargains in Bangkok’s colourful night markets is a great way to spend time in the evening. There are several night markets to choose from scattered throughout the city and one of the largest is at Saphan Phutt. Siam Paradise Night Bazaar is situated just a short stroll from the Udom Suk Skytrain station and contains a large collection of market stalls as well as other types of entertainment such as carnival games, while the large market at Khaosan Road is open until late in the evening and offers a wide range of items from clothes to travel essentials and souvenirs.

Thailand is famous for its elegant dancing and watching a traditional dance performance is a good way to spend a few hours in the evening. Many of the many large hotels and other venues host traditional Thai dance performances in the evening and many offer combined dinner and show tickets.

Bangkok is known for its beautiful ladyboys, and a good way to see these lovely ‘ladies’ in action is to take in a vibrant cabaret show at Calypso or the Playhouse Theater. These spectacular stage shows feature glamorous sets and costumes and the talented performers cover hits songs from around the world that are sure to add a little sparkle to your evening.

There are also shows of a naughtier nature to be seen in the red light districts of PatpongNana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and Soi 4. Access to these shows is restricted to adults only and can be extremely colourful as venues complete to provide the raunchiest shows in the city. Other types of alternative evening entertainment in Bangkok include live comedy, poetry nights, quiz night, salsa dancing classes and ice skating. Bangkok truly is the city that has it all.

    We wanted to try the street vendors food.but decided against it. They had raw chicken in a container but a young kid was playing with the food. This kid had a runny nose, kept on wiping his snot with his hands, then play with the food, a hell I never ate that evening
