Who The Hell Is Stickboy Bangkok?
For several months now I've had people ask me "who is Stickboy?", and how the hell should I know? I don't. But there are some things that I do know. First the Stickboy name is a copy of popular Thailand Blogger Stickman Bangkok. That's probably the second thing I hear people say following their intriguing question. Copying the name of someone else is probably just a cut above the guy out there who called his website the kings of Thailand who ended up getting blacklisted from Thailand (then un-blacklisted by virtually giving away his site).
So who is Stickboy Bangkok? Could be anyone, you see most of these sorts of websites the owners/writers like to stay hidden behind avatars similar to those jerks on Thai Visa, website owners change hands, people die, and the show goes on. Stickboy is more than likely a decent guy so he won't take it personal when I say that his site is simply the regurgitation of news and rumors.
More than likely first time you heard about Stickboy Bangkok was when he was syndicated with ThaiVisa.com. Stickboy made a deal with the devil so he could get traffic and exposure. I would never have made any deals like that, what I did instead was wrote a quick post about a train accident then posted it as the first comment to their thread which generated 10,000 visitors who I led to a post I wrote called "Why Thai Visa Should Be Shut Down" (which I removed after threats from their mods). Totally punked them though! Obviously later Stickboy regretted his decision.
Who is Stickboy again? Like I said, you could be Stickboy, all you need to do is become an Internet Troll and spend all day scouring the internet for Thai News stories and rumors then post them to your site. You don't even need to read Thai either just ask Stickboy, he can't. Get yourself a twitter account, facebook page, a blog to post all your copied and re-written content to and voila you're now Stickbaby!
How well does Stickboy actually do? In terms of SEO his site blows, and of his own admission he makes approximately 28 baht an hour working on the site, about the same as a KFC employee makes, his site has been registered for 9 years! Without Thai Visa syndication it's likely Stickboy will fade into oblivion.
I hope after this post people will stop asking me who Stickboy is. I think people are curious but they don't actually care anyway. Will Stickboy ever get real traction and eventually get more traffic than Living Thai? In it's current format at least, I think there is more chance of it snowing in Bangkok.
