3 People Now dead at Chiang Mai’s Grand Canyon

Not the first time someone has died at the Canyon but for the 3rd time in 12 months someone has died at what expats sometime called the Chiang Mai Grand Canyon but is just an old quarry that has become popular in recent times as the place to "cliff dive". I have a good post about the Chiang Mai Quarry if you want to know where it's at. This time it was a Korean national that died  and while the news story doesn't say how I suspect it's the same as the other two who died which was from cramps. For people who are rarely active in hot water jumping into cold water then climbing up a cliff will give you cramp if you aren't stretched. Will the authorities close the place down? Well pretty sure your not supposed to jump there anyway but what are they going to do lock you up for jumping into water? That's crazy. So at least for now if you're going to do it make sure you are physically equipped.

The people that call this “Grand Canyon” have never seen the real Grand Canyon, nor do they even know what a canyon is. CM is full of Brits. Britain has no canyons, period.

Lol, I understand that, I’ve been to Nevada dozens of times I remember seeing the Eifel tower there too, not really the same as the real thing 😉

Obviously because Britain has no canyons, no British person could possibly know what a canyon is. What a stupid conclusion to arrive at.

Nope. cramps are not caused by jumping from hot water to cold water, or cold water to hot water, without stretching. Cramps are caused by lack of hydration.

I’m not a doctor but I’m sure there is more than one cause for cramps in fact you can get leg cramps from any number of existing medical conditions. But without “googling” anything from life experience if I personally don’t stretch before doing high impact sport I’ll increase my chances of getting a cramp which isn’t the best thing when your about to jump into a bottomless pit of water in a foreign country like Thailand.

How do you die of a cramp? Couldn’t someone help….. “Help, help I have a cramp. I cannot swim’….. I’m sure if I heard this even in Korean and saw a guy drowning I would understand.
