How Lenovo 27inch Tablet Table will get you laid

Imagine sitting around the couch playing board games with your friends how about hanging up a huge tablet in the bathroom to replace the mirror, perhaps you have more sinister plans like setting up an illegal casino, or simply you just want a coffee table with a difference then the words biggest Tablet PC is probably going to be more popular than buying a TV.

How Lenovo 27inch Tablet Table will get you laid

Currently the biggest Lenovo option is the 9 inch Tablet

In an industry where everything is about being as small as you can make Lenovo has bucked the trend and said you know what, I need something a little bigger than 6 inches so they have come up with a 27inch tablet that can sit on your coffee table or rather even be the coffee table! Check out their sales video on the Tablet Table.

I really think this is going to be a hit in fact Lenovo have probably started a new industry all together. Though they arn't the first people to come up with the idea, I went for an interview with a design company years and years ago with someone working on SURFACE which is basically the same thing that's just coming out now with Windows 8. I do however remember the price tag was $20,000 and it was rather bulky but this latest version from Lenovo really does kick ass at a paltry $1700 for the 27inch mammoth of a Tablet.

I can see so many applications for this device and with the ability for 8 fingers to interact independently with the screen at the same time will bring more people together. Instead of buying real board games this kind of device can play every single one instantly.

The first application that comes to my mind in how i'd really love to see this large tablet is on tables in nightclubs and bars. With the use of face recognition and a camera you could pull up pictures of other areas of the club click on a girls face and send her a text message. Currently this would cost around $4000 to set up for 2 tables kinda expensive at the moment but in less than 5 years the same setup should cost less than $1000, talk about online dating gone reality! When this occurs the Tablet Table will help even the shy nerdy boy hook up at the club.

The Lenovo tablet won't be available till towards the end of the year but i'm already excited to see them around as I can see uptake being really quick with this one especially at home. I won't be taking one to the coffee shop but I do hope the first place they get one is the doctors office so much better than the crappy magazines that are always there.

Would you buy one?

I think it looked kind of silly when that lady was walking trough the house with that huge screen in her hands. But the device itself should be amazing, great to have around the house.

I don’t see it becoming a big success.

I’ve wanted something like that ever since there were arcade games 20 years ago that were sitting on a table but compared to what is present these days, this device is just way too big. Like carrying a tv around the house. If it would be 4x smaller and 42″+ then we may have a winner… That would move it into the tv category.

Just make a super thin display that you can put on a table and hide the processing etc on a box connected to wifi.

It running Windows 8 is not really promising either as convergence on the Windows ecosystem is quite terrible. I only see it become successful if Apple makes one, have it sync with the huge amount of games in the app store, link it up to the Apple iTV, … well think of it… this could be a next generation of the iTV.

But it’s good to see Lenovo push the envelope… We need some competition. Keeps Apple on edge as they’ve been going into hibernation recently.

The other Chris lol. I can see these things wafer thin even see through! within the next 5 years of course if i’m right about them taking off. We’ll see what happens, but sure if it were an Apple that size even I would get on board.

I’m not sure why we have to wait for this Lenovo thing to do what you suggested in the article. If you go to a real Apple store (i.e. not iStudio) everything they sell has an iPad sunk into the table next to it so you can look up the specs and whatever else you want about the product.

I’ve also seen a restaurant in Los Angeles where they have a bank of iPads and you order on the iPad and then wait for them to bring your food. They even have an integrated credit card swipe built in so you can pay for your food when you place the order.

So, instead of some huge device like this, why not sink a few iPads (or other tablet computers) into the surface of a table? You could video chat with other people in the club, play games with your friends, check their email, surf the web, etc, etc. Considering the volume in most Thai nightclubs, it’s not like people are actually talking to each other anyway. LOL

In the end, the Lenovo is basically just a very large tablet or an ultra-portable PC, depending on how you look at it. Anything that the Lenovo could be used for could be done on a smaller scale on an existing tablet computer.

Size might be an issue for some applications like in the Lenovo commercial where they’re playing roulette but I don’t think that’s going to be the make or break reason someone shells out $1700 instead of buying a $400 tablet computer.

Between me and my wife, we have 2 iPads (and I’m so, so wanting to buy an iPad Mini but I’m holding out for a mini with retina display), 2 iPhones (4GS and 5), a 27″ iMac, 2 Macbook Pros, a Macbook, and a Windows PC.

Needless to say, I’m exactly the type of consumer a product like this is aimed at but I’m having a hard time imagining what the heck I would do with one even if I had one.

4 people can’t interact with an Ipad at the same time which is the real difference here, i can imagine someone flicking through photos while i flick through others playing games together but yeah if you had an ipad that big that could handle 4 or more people touching the screen then yeah it would work as well but then it would just be a copy of Lenovo wouldn’t it. Again in 5 years time these tables are going to cost $400 and at that price point everyone will have one.

A great thing I think, but not sure about the night club idea. I think you’re head should be up and focusing on what’s around you in a night club, not buried in a screen.

Its bad enough in day to day life with people always talking on their mobile phones denying you the opportunity to speak to them.

I agree with your argument because cell phones in clubs piss me off, my friends tell me that you can’t stop the technology surrounding you so you may as well embrase it. I’m a dinasour in that respect but they do have a point. At least this way they’ll be on the screen talking to people actually in the club.

This was one of the things that was going through my mind when I was writing my original response. I had this image in my head of a bunch of Thai gals sitting around this huge Lenovo on the table and they end up mugging to the camera all night taking their own photos and posting them to Facebook.

        LOL
