Kodchasri Thani Hotel is probably the second best hotel in Chiang Mai for most travelers. The price is also on the higher end of the medium range but Kodchasri Thani Hotel does everything right. Its located on the southeast side of the moat and just a short walk to all the weekend markets and nightlife. The Frangipani Service Residences is an apartment style hotel. This will fit best for people traveling in groups or families with children. They have 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with a kitchen. The Frangipani Service Residences is located inside the moat near the northern most gate. Tamarind Village Hotel offers probably the best possible location in the whole city. Located just off the main road, and directly between Thapae Gate and the city center. You are literally just a minute walk from all the best attractions in the city such as temples, nightlife, restaurants, and markets. While Rustic Guest House does not have the best location of any hotel on my list, it does have by far the best rooms and value of any hotel in its price range. At just $18 a night you get a very nicely decorated, clean room, airport transfer, free wifi throughout the hotel, and a bar and Thai restaurant on site. The most visibal and maybe the most famous hotel in Chiang Mai is Le Meridien Chiang Mai Hotel. Le Meridien Chiang Mai Hotel offers the best location outside the old city. Located right in the center of the night bazaar and on Loi Kroh Rd. you are directly in the middle of all of the nightlife action. Mini Cost Guesthouse is probably the best value guesthouse within the old city. Located on soi 1 just a 1 minute walk to both Thapae Gate and the Sunday Market, the location cant be beat. Rich Lanna House is another hotel located in an old, traditional lanna style Thai setting. Rich Lanna House is located close to the northern most gate within the old city.
