Most people I know agree that Thai people on general are lazy more than people in the west. The truth regarding this is debatable some people are lazy and some people arn’t it’s more of a natural fact. I personally know some really hard working Thai’s in fact I know one guy that hasn’t had a day off of work for 9 years and works really hard. It seems Farang get all the lazy chicks probably because they are all seeking to be kept women I don’t know I don’t really care if I take a Thai girl in as a girlfriend she better work hard! Not just at keeping me happy but also earning some bread too.[ad#Thai Love Links 468by60]My current girlfriend works super hard, about 60 hours a week 6 days a week and on Sunday she goes to school for her GED (equivalent). After working hard all month she wait’s around for about 2 hours to get her check. She works at a new restaurant/pub down the road called Sukashem.
This month my number one made a paltry 4680 baht after they cut a day off and 50 baht for being late (I think she was late the whole month no more than 60min total). The whole docking her pay for being a little late really pisses me off because she’s only making 20 baht an hour yet she get’s docked 50 baht I’m sure that’s illegal somehow but in Thai style she doesn’t want me to say anything nor does she want to rock the boat. Whatever.
She’s been working there 3 months now and enjoys it except they cook funky northern food which is neither tasty or good for you. So I buy her food some days if I’m free for her to eat. What a nice guy huh?
She get’s tips too last month she make 1800 baht on tips bringing her entire salary to a whopping 6480 baht a month. Let’s go out and party right? Your kidding what a joke to do all that work for $200 that’s working for about 80 cents an hour. Can you imagine only earning 80 cents an hour for working. I couldn’t even live on that personally but somehow she does it.
After she is paid we go have some noodles and she puts 500 baht in her pocket and hands me the rest. All tips normally go to me unless I’m feeling generous and I might let her keep 1 or 200 baht so she can go to the club with her friends from work. Again what a nice guy hey!
So pretty much working none stop for the entire month she gets to spend 500 baht on whatever she wants normally some clothes or girls stuff. Since she doesn’t get a day off I don’t have to pay to take her anywhere, she tends to favour cheap meals which i pay for breakfast and dinner so in the end I normally end up with an extra 1000 baht in my pocket after buying her meals and essentials.
This kind of deal works out great for me because it gives me tonnes of time to get out and roam around without any distractions with the added benefit of having a sleeping translator. I’ve made her life very consistent and that’s what girls really like is stability more than money.
Maybe you were hoping to read of some magic bullet that would get your lazy Thai girlfriend off her ass and into the workforce and free your time to be out mongering too but sorry to tell you guys you can’t turn a lazy Thai girl into an aerobics instructor any more than you can ask me to turn gay. Won’t happen.
Is my situation unique? I don’t know is it? All I can say is that I won’t stand for laziness and I won’t stand for carrying your ass if your completely able to do so. There is a job out there with her name on it and you better make sure she goes gets is because would you honestly put up with a western chick who wouldn’t get out and earn her own keep? Why would you come to Thailand and think just because they have less money they should have a free ride?
Oh I’ve been a through a fair few Thai girlfriends now that were just so lazy they wouldn’t actually do anything. Anytime I hear a Thai girl tell me she is lazy she’s probably being honest and then I know she’s just for short time not long time because I can’t stand hanging around chicks that don’t do anything. The main reason is a Thai girl that doesn’t work has too much free time on her hands she wants to hang out too much then I lose any chance to hook up with other chicks.
So yes your Thai girl must be at least motivated to do something in the first place otherwise you’ll have a hard time getting her to get a job. I told my girlfriend that if she doesn’t start working she has to go back to the village because I don’t have enough money to support her anymore and I’ll bring someone in who can get a job. Next day she was working.
Now I don’t want to be someones sugar daddy as much as I want a sugar mommy either. In fact I believe that the guy should be taking of the girl financially. I believe it creates a better unity where someone is always dependant it makes for more of a smooth ride. Let’s say you have a girlfriend who earns well or perhaps more than you. She has no real reason to stick around if things get tough. If things got tough for you then after looking after for her so long she is obligated to help you out to do what it takes to make sure you’re well. A girl who makes good money or more than you will be highly opinionated and debate everything with you just as a western woman would, maybe you like, but it’s not for me.
If you can get your Thai girlfriend to get out and get a job then trust me you’ll be much happier. Don’t worry about how much she earns or how much she has to work. Especially if you have a younger girl, when I was 20 I worked like a dog and it didn’t kill me, it won’t kill her either. Getting her out of the house is really the goal not her paycheck.
If someone was to ask my advice on how to get their Thai girlfriend to go work I’d say read the following list:
- Never tell her how much money you have or make, it’s easy to hide money so make sure you do it, always say you make only 30,000 baht a month no more.
- Thai parents do it all the time so should you, complain to her often how little money you have
- Drop hints often like if you had more money would be good so you can send her parents some money
- Prohibit her from going to 7 eleven because it’s too expensive, wait for the monthly trip to Big C she’ll get withdrawals and start looking for a job
- Tell her you might have to go back to your country soon because you don’t have enough money
Ultimately it will be hard for you to tell her to get a job but you can drop enough hints where she will eventually get the hint and either walk away or start working. If she’s really that lazy it will be better to find a new one then to try to train the one you have. Don’t worry the next one is probably just as good or better anyway.

So let me get this straight your GF works 7days a week for around 200 bucks a month AU$ or US$ either way it aint a lot and she only keeps roughly AU15 of that and gives the rest to you ? Mate you are a fuckin ponce !!! for taking her money and she’s fuckin stupid for handing it over to you !!!! seems to its not a case of the poor Farang being milked by the scheming Thai GF but the poor Thai GF being milked by the Farang so he can just cruise around the beer bars and enjoy life at someone elses expense !!!

depends on the size and turnover for the store but I would think something around 8-10,000 a month, inside the mall it might be closer to 15.
thanks. I was told 25000 baht a month incl bonuses and overtime. I know the basic salary is 6600 per month. Lots to learn, huh!! My first time in Thailand. Do you know of a decent ( and capable) agent who can handle tourist visas to Australia. She got knocked back as she resigned , thanks to bad advice from a Pattaya agent, and the Embassy classed her as unemployed.

Yes she does live with me. I’m not taking advantage of her at all though if I were to let her keep all her money she’d spend it in a day and then be asking me for money Thai girls are hopeless at managing money. This way I drip feed her the money to cover her expenses so she ain’t leaching off me.

I agree a Thai girl does not manage money well.That is why I prefer a Thai women.They seem to manage money quite well.
My Sweetie works 7 days/week with 2 days off per month. Unlike Chris though I don’t take any from her. She comes home at 8:30 or 9 PM and makes dinner for us. I figure that’s worth something, so I supplement her earnings (dress shop) with an allowance of 5,000/month.
I can’t comment on Chris and his GF since he’s an adult and knows his situation better than I do. He does seem a bit strict but that’s his business…I do agree with him 100% on his comment above (to Jake) that some Thais’ seem hopeless at managing money. I suppose that is because many never had much to begin with so I guess it’s lack of experience…?
I just don’t spend enough money on them to make them think they will be on easy street and not have to work at all.
Also when I meet them I ask them what do they like to do, what are their goals in life and stuff like that. Then later I ask them how things are going for them, reaching their goals? Did you go look for a job today? How did it go? Then they start looking so they have something to tell you. Pretty soon more often than not they get a job!

Now I would like her to go to collage but she is scared she left home to work in a bangkok factory at 13 and thinks she is not smart enough . She speakes reads and writes Cam. Loas Thai and english she is smart enough but I would never force her .I’m not in my 20’s so don’t want to tom cat around .
I think you should be putting that extra 1,000 a month in a bank account for her for a rainy day. Perhaps even adding an extra 1,000 from your own pocket.
Thai girls do seem to be more hopeless with money then western girls. Not sure why. But all people are unhappy without jobs I have found. Without a job to keep them interested they just sit around making problems. Worst time was when my GF had no job for 5 months. Drove me mental. Never been so happy to send someone off to work

All of my Thai girlfriends work. However, I don’t like to take money from them. They do have tough lives, and they need chocolate.
