I’m going to open up a little bit in the post and try to explain something no one wants to acknowledge, how much money should you be giving your Thai girlfriend. Immediately most people will tell you that you shouldn’t give girls anything and that’s something I say again and again on this site but it’s not always black and white and it’s really up to the individual.
Over the years I’ve given very little to any Thai girl I’ve ever dated or hung out with in Thailand, most girls I’ve dated here have either worked, or I made them work because I ain’t going to pay for that. I’m happy to pay for alcohol and a night out but other than that I don’t care to give you anything. The notorious noodle story might paint a picture of the biggest Tightass in Thailand but anyone who knows me knows I’m in fact the most generous person you’ll meet.
So how much money do I give my current Thai girlfriend?
I hope you’re not shocked but she get’s 30k baht a month. I send 5k to her parents and the rest isn’t really cash in hand it’s more lino money? Yes! (she passed the 6month no money test) Couldn’t I just change a new girl every night for the same money? Yes. Couldn’t I upgrade and get a hotter sexier younger girl for the same price? Of course I could! But I can also have the cake and eat it too!
Honestly if you want to give a girl anything that’s entirely up to you, if you only make 60k a month then you’ll probably look at my g/f’s monthly disposable income and say to yourself WTF! But here’s the thing, my gik gets 1/4 of that, my sex buddies are all happy with just my noodle 😉
The point I’m getting at here is there is a hierarchy in Thailand with certain understandings. Yes my g/f costs me money but it actually makes sense when you think about it. She hangs out with me all the time, why would I make her drink sang som if i’m drinking black. Why would I make her wear 100 baht flip flops if I’m wearing new trainers.
The fact is most Thai girls don’t really NEED much money as long as they can send a bit of money home they are happy, but of course everyone wants more, greedy bitches don’t get jack from me!
The Dowry
I really want to talk about this dowry business. The dowry you pay to your wifes parents when you get married, in fact you need to give a deposit to get engaged as well. Both of these amounts are small and it amazes me how many grumpy old white dudes complain about this. Let’s put it in perspective shall we.
Firstly compare the Dowry to the western tradition. Back home you have to buy the girl a ring, typically this is at least 3 months your monthly wage. For most people that’s about $10,000 USD. that’s just for the ring, oh wait that’s the engagement ring, now you gotta buy another ring and have the wedding as well which the average cost of a wedding these days is $20k. We’re talking a million baht for a western wedding and the cheapest you could probably have a wedding is $5k. Complaining about the Dowry? Wake the F up guys that $30k rock you gave your white girl is a dowry!
People who complain about paying a dowry are simply ill informed, like I said that rock you put on your white girls hand is a dowry oh but it’s worse, it’s a promise to fuck only her for the rest of your life or she’s keeping the rock, the house, the car and then make you pay alimony for the rest of your damn life! Compare that to Thailand yeah, get a virgin from isaan (Yes you only need to pay a dowry if she’s in fact a virgin, you dumb guys paying millions for a bar girl makes me laugh). Trust me when I say a Thai woman who hold their virginity till marriage are infinitely more trustworthy than any other girl that’s why you pay!
You only pay what you can afford and it’s common for 20k dowries in Thailand. Want to see how cheap it really gets? Get her pregnant and name your price. If you marry a girl in Thailand it will be infinitely cheaper than to marry some bitchy white chick. Don’t recognize the marriage in your country and she has no claim to your stuff there or even better, do what I do, have offshore accounts and businesses that can’t be traced back to me and that she, her family and even a smart lawyer couldn’t find.
Sending Money to her family
This is another thing guys don’t get here, sending money home is simply an Asian thing to do, trust me if their parents are well off it’s typically the parents sending money to the kids, but for the majority of Thai’s especially girls who live in the country areas they are poor and living in conditions that you probably couldn’t handle yourself. If you can manage to send a $100 a month that’s more than enough if they ask for more or complain about that then you’re with the wrong girl! Obviously if she has a job and an income it’s none of your responsibility so if that’s the case and she asks you to send money for her you’re with the wrong girl.
How much money to give her
This is all relative, kind of like food, I know plenty of guys who don’t mind spending 1000 baht for a meal others spend 30 baht. Everyone has different income levels so it’s a difficult question to answer. What’s more important is how much money she makes. If she lives with you without rent and makes her own money anything over 15k a month there’s no reason to give her anything because that’s enough to get by and send monies home and save a little.
Finally just want to say that if you want your girlfriend to live the same lifestyle as you, you’re probably going to have to pay. Dating hiso’s, lawyers and business girls, and sugar mommies bores the F out of me. It may be for you but I personally prefer to pull the strings. ke for food clothes phone going out with me etc basic living, she likes to save money in a way reminds me of when I was a kid. I’ll send her to the shop to buy me something with a 1000k note and she keeps the change. This way she has no expectations of a monthly stipend and I don’t have to kick her up the ass to get something done. Thai girls are notoriously lazy!
Do I need to give her anything? No. Would she still be with me even if I had…YES!
