Dead person floating in Chiang Mai Moat comes back to life

My mate calls me the other day from Chiang Mai and tells me that he's witnessing this person floating dead in the Moat that surrounds the old city of Chiang Mai. Not the first time I've heard or seen for that matter a dead person floating in the moat but then he screams out and starts telling me the person comes back to life!

Well today I found the video of what actually happened. The person was floating with the head up so really was he dead or not? I dunno, I just find it ridiculous that the Authorities just let the guy float there for half an hour and only until they realise he's not dead do they pull him out. Glad it wasn't me in there.

Hmm unless my eyes deceive me that was a fugly woman not a bloke ! oh and I can’t believe that so many of them were just standing around having a laugh at the poor buggers predicament when being pulled out of the water :-O

it’s probably a Tom 🙂 First thing I’d do if I saw someone floating in the water like that is pull them out, but granted not many Thai people in Chiang Mai actually know how to swim so it’s likely they didn’t jump in because they too would end up floating in the water like that too.

Why can’t many thais in CM swim, actually? It’s not like they don’t have swimming centers and lakes around here.

First time one of my old ex-girlfriends said she can’t swim (and she is over 30 too), it was weird. Now I’ve just got used to it.

Most people in western countries learn to swim through school, it’s not a part of the curriculum here thus they can’t swim.

They’re all laughing. I don’t see anything the least bit funny.

Was she breathing? If not should have been given mouth to mouth and chest compressions, then if a sign of life, put into the recovery position.

Should have been dragged out on her back, not front.

Poor woman, probably a cry for help.

I don’t know much but the basics I learned in school but you’re so right, the rescue teams have no idea here you never want to have a problem here that’s for sure. I saw a motorbike crash into this guy on the footpath, banged his leg pretty good but wasn’t major serious, I went into 7 eleven and bought a bag of ice for him to put on his leg to slow the swelling, he didn’t seem appreciative at all and when the rescue team came they said he shouldn’t put ice on the leg as it will increase the swelling. See the clip them tapping on his stomach, what the hell will that do? Man I hope nothing like that happens to me.

I notice the ‘rescue staff’ didn’t want to get their nice uniform wet
