Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Krabi

์Not for the squeamish or scared of heights jumping of a cliff looks great on TV better in person but to actually do it myself I’d sit that one out. The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Finale ended at as Russia’s Artem Silchenko became the world champion with a spectacular 27 meter dive from a cliff on Hong Island in Krabi Province. Some really awesome videos can also be seen on their Facebook page.

Movie of the Week

Been catching up on a lot of movies this week but The croods must be the funniest movie I’ve seen this year if you havn’t seen it do it now. Bittorrent

Thailand Book Of The Week

hell to pay book

Hell to Pay

You might of heard of Mike Fook, he’s one of the guys that inspired me to start this blog and now and then I’ll read his books. His Thailands sickest series is one that I enjoy because living here as an expat and running this blog I get my own share of crazies probably more than Mike. But as Mike says if people don’t hate you then your doing something wrong. This book is best read after the rest of the series either way it’s still a great read and if you run a Thailand blog I’d say this one in particular is a must read.

Thai Song of the week – ไม่บอกเธอ

Probably my most favourite Thai song of this year ไม่บอกเธอ by the hormones is one song you should definitely get to know.

Video of the week

Ever wanted to know what goes on in a soapy massage in Bangkok, then this video will explain “the other side”.

Thai Word of the Week – อีห่า

How to swear in Thai

If you can’t speak Thai with fluency actually pulling off a swear word is like listening to Chinese try to use the word Fuck without sounding stupid. That said it’s good to know exactly what’s being said to you as well. The word อีห่า is used the same way we would say bitch. Like if your girl put salt in your cup of coffee on purpose to piss you off this would be the opportune time to caller her this word. In fact might either get a chuckle on how on earth you knew to say this or otherwise get a slap on the face. If bored try it.

Thailand Business of the Week – Paleo Robbie

On a Paleo diet and don’t have time to cook your own meals or what you cook tastes dreadful then Paleo Robbie might just be the answer for you. Bangkok Nomadic and online tribe would do well to know you can order everything online and have it delivered. What I like most is that all meats are pasture raised. Please note that it’s recommended that all meals are cooked in the Oven so if you don’t have one might be time to upgrade your crib. If you’re a restaurant owner in Bangkok you might also like to consider Paleo Robbie with their wholesale list of meats.

Question of the Week

Q  Hey Chris love the blog! I’m planning a trip to Bangkok for 10 days, want to know where you recommend I stay, I’m not cheap but nothing overly expensive but must be guest friendly! Where do you recommend? Thanks Gil

A Hi Gil! There are plenty of recommendations I could make however for me Sasha Uno is the place I prefer to stay in Bangkok, it’s guest friendly, close to the BTS and shopping in the area, short stroll to Soi Cowboy and a station away from Nana. I figured by the guest friendly remark this is the area you want to be in.

The soapy massage video was interesting but I would’ve gotten more out of it if I could understand Thai.

    Hi Chris,
I, am consistantly reading bloggers complaints that the standard of girls has seriously declined across the board in Thailand these days and alot of the women are flabby, ugly to average and or middle aged. A lot of guys are hitting up Nana., Pattya and they cant find somethin worth shelling out for. The fishbowl story seems to confirm some of this. One of the reasons they say is the introduction of the minimum wage.
    What are your thoughts ?

Look i’ve been hearing this for ages now and I don’t see what people are talking about. If your cheap charlie and want to spend less than 1000 baht on a chick you’re not going to get much in the way of looks. I’ll give you another example, there’s a pub area near me Zoe in Yellow here in Chiang Mai, i go in there I can’t see one girl I’d like to bang and if you only go to those kinds of places that’s all your going to see wasted chewed up hookers. Try a real Thai club for example in Pattaya head to Differ lots of hot chicks, place they call Ibar…I don’t think so, dragon whores the occasional good one. I think the bottom line has more to do with the punters ability to pay for the goods than it does the Thai minimum wage, oh and the minimum wage thing only applies to those with a bachelors, you wno’t find many whores in Thailand with a decent education. Thanks for the comment also

I think the minimum wage is nationwide not just those with a bachelors, no?

It was always as I understood it and looking at the first few results in Google they say it’s for all employees in Thailand and no mention of degrees being a prerequisite.

What you read on the internet and reality is different. I garuntee you 80% of people working pubs and clubs restaraunts in chiang mai are not making 9k a month

They could be – with tips.

Minimum wage in CM is 251 a day not 300. It varies by province, 300 is mostly only Bangkok & surrounds.

        So lets say 6 days x 4 weeks @ 251 a day = bht 6024

However if its a small business not registered with the SSO (Social Security Office) they’re unlikely to pay it.

Good information. Id add that a business doing less than 100.000k a month wouldnt pay taxes that would be a huge number employed in that section more likely on 180-200 a day especially if your under 21 which by most parts covers 99% of girls im talking about. If you go for a mall girl your talking more minimum wage which is $10 a day…..like i wrote the other day id rather just pay the 10 bucks ;)

You are right there will be a lot of employers who simply don’t pay minimum wage whether they should be or not.
