Aussie Guy Sings for The Star Thailand

I don't watch TV anymore so I'm out of the loop on all the news other than what I might see on the internet. So when a girl messages me on Facebook and says there's a Aussie guy called Chris tried out for The Star I had to check it out. The video is below and believe it or not he actually made the cut! Good for him, but somehow I think they just voted him in for the wow factor of the show and not for his singing ability. Anyway if you hear the name Chris on TV soon no it's not me!

I think they are a bit too much complimenting him that he can speak Thai. He grew up here (9 years must be about half his life) and went to a Thai school, so it would be very strange if his Thai wouldn’t be perfect. I feel a bit sorry for this guy, because his home is Thailand, and chances are very low, even for this kind of people, that he’ll get Thai nationality or permanent residency. (About, his singing talent – I am not impressed).

WHAT ARE YOU MEAN ? THAILAND IS SO BAD OR WHAT ???????????

No, it is not. It’s great here. I think you don’t understand my comment. (if you’ve problems understanding English, you might ask somebody for a translation). If you’re Thai, I can translate it to Thai for you.

First of all,THANKS SO MUCH! and that why I asked you.
        What do you mean exactly?

        Or you mean …
“To get Thai nationality or permanent residency.”
that his chances are very low.

The latest I would like to say THANKS TO CHRIST TOO, that let me have my comment here.

What I want to say is that this guy grew up here. He is almost like a Thai because he spent most of his life here. Probably he feels like Thailand is his home. Thailand doesn’t have any law to allow this kind of people to get Thai nationality of permanent residency. If you want to get Thai nationality you need a very high paying job and pay a lot of taxes. It’s unlikely that he’ll ever get a job like this. So it’s unlikely he’ll ever get Thai nationality. That means that for the rest of his life he’ll have no rights here (no right to work without work permit, he can’t buy land and he can’t vote). Also, every year he’ll need to struggle of the right to stay here, because of the visa regulations. So, I feel sorry for him, because even though he’s almost like Thai, he will most probably never be legally accepted as being Thai.

I think I understand what you’re saying but it doesn’t make sense because in order to get on the show you have to have thai nationality or permanent residency or a work permit that permits him to do so which i doubt it cause he can’t sing well even in English. He goes to a Thai school so i’m guessing he has a Thai ID card. What I would agree with is it’s unlikely he’ll ever be accepted as a Thai no matter what university he graduates from.

If I shut my eyes, I couldn’t tell it was a farang.

he studied at a Thai school since primary school, no my Thai isn’t as good however I could understand the entire show. having not been to a Thai school might not ever know as much, but don’t really care.

Today I looked at YouTube how CHIRS sing a song it wasn’t so good but NICE. I REALLY repeat it 2-3 time and laugh a lot but in positive way okay and typed broken THAI. All I understand that’s not your language. It’s okay. SORRY to say that … me too the same..

Wish you have a good time in THAILAND

lol that’s funny, I KNOW I CAN’T SING so I wouldn’t try to go on a TV show, as for the video, well it was just to show that I could say the song which most Thai people can’t even say in time.
