New Years Resolutions 2013

First of all I just want to shout out and Thank everyone who has come to visit the Living Thai blog during 2012 without you guys this site wouldn't be what it is and a special Thanks to all the VIP guys who have supported the development of this site.

Today is the last day of the year, the day that I reflect on the past year and make a few goals for the next one. The great thing about setting goals is you don't have to actually achieve everything if anything at all. Things always change along the way and just because you said you were going to Thailand this year but didn't doesn't mean you've failed. Just means life took you somewhere else.

If I look back at my 2012 New Years resolutions I'll see that I did reach a few of my goals:

  • I went to Pattaya
  • I setup more than a few Coyote parties
  • I did get another writer for the blog
  • We are now getting 5000+ people visit the blog everyday

But I didn't reach a number of other goals either, I didn't get a logo made and the other blogger went AWOL on account of a hurricane. But what about all the other things that were accomplished in the past year that I didn't plan for like going to all these other cities in Thailand, Creating the online dating series of posts the VIP section and the First 500 Thai words eBook.

The problem with creating a blog from scratch is it takes a long time to figure out what is actually going to work. When the blog started in 2011 I tried everything I could think of. Then in 2012 I figured out exactly what you guys like to read and want to see. 2013 is going to see a lot more content than was produced in 2012 in fact I plan to double the amount of posts, for that I need to hire again another writer so please contact me if your interested I know some other people applied before but I've lost the emails so please send again.

Website Goals for 2013

  • Reach 1500 articles written
If I can find a reliable interesting writer for the blog this will be easier the more articles written the more content there is, more content means more readers and more readers mean much more interesting stories.
  • Site Redesign
According to the guy at ViperChill I need some work done to this site, clean it up, even though I don't think the design is that bad it certainly needs some polishing up so 2013 we'll see this happen.
  • Reach 10,000 visitors a day
There is a limit to how many people will actually view this blog and I think that number is around 30,000-40,000 visits a day I'm only a fraction of that now but reaching 10,000 by the end of 2013 would be great to see. Currently it's at 5000 visits a day on average.
  • Expand Monger Maps for the entire country
One of the most difficult things when you come to a new place is to know where all the nightlife is especially if you're on a short trip that's why I've been busing around the country going to every night club, go go bar, coyote club, g club, karaoke club there is in Northern, Eastern, and Central Thailand so that when you arrive you know exactly where to go. This is very tiring and expensive hence the VIP section but it's extremely useful if you get to a town you havn't been to before. The Chiang Mai map is the most extensive of it's kind as are the maps in the other cities, hoping to have Thailand covered by the end of 2013.
  • Expand Learning Thai Series
There's a lot of guys out there who say they don't need to speak Thai, I think that's just as excuse for not trying. My motto is hey, if I can do it, then why can't you? I have a good idea of how to make this work but won't let on the details of it just know it's going to come for sure.
  • Bangkok
I have a number of really good friends that live in Bangkok even had a reader wanting to pay for my expenses down there and back but I didn't go. I spent a lot of time down in Bangkok when I was doing Ebay and honestly it was an inhibitor to speaking good Thai because so many people spoke English. Now that I speak Thai better than 99% of other Farang here I feel it's time to revisit the city of Angels.
  • Going to Loas
3 Years is up on my Visa so I have to leave the country (crazy Chiang Mai rule) Most people I know have done the Visa trip to Vientiane so I'm also going to do the same this time I might actually take a camera! Plan is motorbike ride from Chiang mai to Nong Khai from around the 15th of February so if anyone wants to ride along please contact me.
  • Publish 2 new books
During the course of this year it came to me that there is a gap in the knowledge out there about Dating Thai girls and moving to Thailand so there's going to be a few books coming out next year for the VIP section on these exact topics.

Well these are my goals so far, what would be great is if you could leave a comment on this post and let me know what you'd like to see change or added on the site, no matter how trivial it is I'd like to hear so we can make the improvements and give you the information.

Happy New Year Everyone!
