The best hotel to stay at in Khon Kaen

I’ve been to Khon Kaen several times now, it’s a relaxed city and not exactly small around 500,000 people live in and around the city. It’s spread out and traffic can be slow at certain times of the day. The police are extremely vigilant about drink driving and not wearing a helmet so unless you know all the back alleyways and where the checkpoints are I suggest you avoid doing such things. In those trips I’ve stayed at a number of different places but the most convenient and comfortable place to stay is at the Khon Kaen Orchid Hotel.

As at the time of writing this place is 5 years old but if I didn’t tell you you’d be fooled into thinking it’s brand new. Foreign owed and at a good price only 600 – 800 baht a night you’ll be more than happy staying here.

The hotel is accross the road from Central Plaza a welcome relief from the hot weather, actually if I’m up during the day I practically live in this place. The Khon Kaen Orchid also has scooters for rent always makes it easier to get and the prices are the same as at the shops around 200-250 baht a day. Getting a Tuk Tuk from the front desk is also easy, so is getting a Taxi in Khon Kaen by the meter!

Khon Kaen Orchid Hotel

What you probably can’t tell from the picture is the Balcony is like a V shape making a small balcony into a place where you could comfortably sit and have a few drinks. Guest Friendly the Khon Kaen Orchid Hotel also has a breakfast you can stomach, cereal and coffee. On a budget? Then across the road in the morning some excellent Thai food for just 10 baht a bag.

There is however no nightlife around the Khon Kaen Orchid hotel, this is a good thing if you are trolling the online dating sites because it’s unlikely you’ll need to go to them. This place is ideal for bringing back online chicks it’s also close to Khon Kaen University.

As I said the nightlife in Khon Kaen isn’t as alive as it is in other big cities around Thailand there is the Vintage and the Rad club both of which allow underage kids in so if you’re looking for an older crowed try the Emmanualle club at the the Charoen Thani Khon Kaen Hotel.

Each time I go to Khon Kaen I pull a new girl off Thai Cupid so rarely have I needed to venture into the monger or nightlife scene but I’ve been to or at least seen the following nightlife and monger opportunities around Khon Kaen. Of course my favourite place was Love Bar which has lovely ladies at the karaoke, the soapy I checked out was 1600 baht and the younger nightclubs were easy to pull.

There are a lot of drugs in Khon Kaen especially Ice and many girls even the teens I have met were on it too so be careful those chicks are nuts but good fun for the night

What about night life in Khon Kaen compared to Udon Thani? And in general, what is the better place for getting thai girls among these two?

I havn’t done the map for Udon yet, I need more time there, but I’d have to say it’s better than Khon Kaen in terms of working girls but good girls and picking up freebies i’d have to say Khon Kaen

Agree, The Orchid, Irish/Thai owned, is very nice.
Stayed there a few years ago when it was quite new.
